Where it started
Tomas lit the flat with practicals and one soft source through the window. The camera original was clean, but the red walls were fighting the faces in every wide shot.
The grade
We built one base grade for the whole film, then a second layer that pulls the red wall down by half a stop without touching skin. Each scene after dinner loses a little saturation, so the evening feels as long as it does for the family.
Delivered in Dolby Vision, with a trim pass for the Rec.709 broadcast version and a DCP for festivals.
